Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe was born South London, England into a family of mixed blood. Madekwe is English but her father was Nigerian. Her family was raised on a council estate in the south of London. At the age 14, she attended The Brit School. She pursued acting studies in The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London. In her time at the school, she performed in several stage productions, such as the King Henry V's Princess Katherine as well as Wuthering Heights.
Madekwe started acting in Storm Damage. In the years since, she's had appearances as a guest in films like Teachers, Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe made her debut motion-picture role in the Woody Allen film Cassandra's Dream, opposite Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor. In the wake of that film's success her role was Elisha in the single-episode BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN, and appeared in the six episodes of Trexx as well as Flipside playing Ollie. In 2008, Madekwe landed Bambi as the main character in the ITV2 show Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe was the main character for How to Lose Friends And Alienate Others, a comedy that was released in 2008. Theatre credits for Madekwe include Little Sweet Thing and Flight Path.
Madekwe was officially introduced to her US debut on The Beautiful Life in 2009. The show aired just two episodes on The CW, and was then ended. In February 2011, she was cast as Ashley Davenport in the ABC drama series Revenge. The departure of Madekwe from the show was announced in May 2013. After a period of two years as a main character, she made a guest performance in the first episode of season three. She was Tituba on the television program Salem in 2014 until. Her long-time friend, Iddo, married Madekwe in June of 2012. Together, they worked in the film Secret Diary of a Call Girl. He was also a part of the cast alongside Madekwe on Salem.
Ashley Leggat, an actress nominated twice for the Gemini Award, comes from the large Hamilton family. Four of her older brothers were also in the family and included twins Todd & Bram, Brett & Rob. Ashley's sports brothers played baseball during summers as well as hockey in winter. Ashley did not walk, but she did dance, so at the age of 2 1/2 years old she took up Baby Ballet -and she fell in love with. Ashley discovered her love for dance when she was just a few years old. Ashley was a top competitor in divisions for jazz, tap hip-hop, ballet lyrical musical theatre, acrobatics as well as pointe until the time she completed high school. She also won best soloist awards at all important dance competitions like the International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance and many more.
